A beautiful low-key, relaxed wintery micro-wedding at Leatherhead Registry Office, with the reception at Woodlands Park Hotel in Cobham

I know it says Christmas wedding and it's now February, but the reason I haven't blogged about this wedding sooner, is that I wanted to give myself time to write a properly thought out blog post. This was a very special wedding, and I want this blog to highlight that. This was my last wedding of 2023, and unfortunately 2024 has not been kind to me in terms of being unwell. So, here we are, more than 2 months after the wedding and finally I'm writing the blog post!

This was such a special wedding for me because it was the wedding of my big brother, and his lovely wife (Yay!). They got engaged in Canada in the summer of 2023 on holiday, and decided to go for a wintery micro-wedding on their 15 year anniversary.

We all stayed over the night before at the gorgeous Woodlands Park Hotel in Cobham, which looked fabulously Christmassy with its gigantic tree and roaring fire. We had the children with us, but were in a wonderful room with so much space, and its own Christmas tree! As soon as we arrived, the children were given cuddly toy owls, which are the mascot of the hotel.

Sam and Amy weren't doing the traditional 'not seeing each other before the wedding', so it meant that they had a lovely relaxed morning in their room, while I took some photos of their details. Amy had a bouquet of beautiful dried flowers from the wonderful The Happy Blossoms. I now have my own bunch of flowers from them and they really are fabulous, and they smell amazing! Sam's wedding ring has pieces of meteorite in it, which is awesome. So, the details were important to capture.

My beautiful toddler was the flower girl, and she was thrilled to bits with her sequinned navy dress and her sparkly gold shoes. We had been going over the 'triangle strategy' with her for walking down the aisle, which meant that she would start with Daddy at the top of the aisle, walk to me at the bottom of the aisle, while I was taking photos, and then head over to Grandpa to sit down. She did this perfectly, apart from the fact that there was a table between me and her, and she just stopped in front of it and wasn't sure what to do! She was very cute though and I was a very proud Mummy.

Even though it was pretty chilly, I managed to persuade everyone to take their coats off for a few minutes to get some group photos outside the registry office on their pretty stairs. We then did a few minutes of couples photos outside before it got too cold! The inside of the hotel was all decked out in Christmas decorations, so we got some lovely photos on the stairs and by the Christmas tree.

Instead of a sit down meal, Sam and Amy had chosen an amazing Christmassy afternoon tea for us all, which was absolutely delicious.

The wedding was lovely and relaxed and everyone was chatting and enjoying themselves. Sam and his best man, Nick made speeches and then we headed home to put the children to bed, just as the delicious looking evening buffet was coming out.

It was such a nice day and I felt very emotional watching my big brother get married, and finally welcoming Amy OFFICIALLY into our family. It was such an honour to take their wedding photos, and also to enjoy their wedding as a guest. A wonderful day!
