Halloween at Jiggy Wrigglers Southampton West
A fun-filled week of Halloween parties for babies and toddlers at the Jiggy Wrigglers parties!
Oh, I do love a baby in a pumpkin! I mean, what's not to love?! Right?! We love pumpkins. We love babies. Let's combine the two! Heck yeah!
Jiggy Kat had seen a great inspiration photo and sent it to me, saying that we should try it because it was super cute, and it worked better than I could have imagined. All I had to do was find the biggest pumpkin I could (thank you Aldi in Romsey), slice off the top (actually quite hard work, especially with a 3 year old hovering about wanting to help), cut some little leg holes near the bottom, make it mess free by covering the inside in clingfilm and an orange plastic bag, and write a cute slogan on in white board pen (thank you husband's teacher rucksack)!
My Mum was absolutely convinced that no one in their right mind would want to put their baby inside a real pumpkin, but Kat and I knew different! And EVERYONE wanted their baby in the pumpkin! And those whose older babies were a bit too big to fit inside the pumpkin were a little disappointed. Still, we had a fabulous orange backdrop for everyone else, and plenty of pumpkins to decorate the scene and to play with - real ones, sparkly ones, crochet ones, and some rather lovely gourds (my favourite being the one that was almost heart shaped!)
Along with the Christmas party photos, the Halloween party photos are my favourite to do throughout the year. Everyone gets into their fancy dress, and looks adorable, and Kat runs a fabulously spooky-but-not-scary session, and everyone always has a brilliant time.
This year, we upped the number of Halloween parties that I was photographing at. I did all 7 parties! With Kat adding the extra date for a double celebration on her birthday. Two of the venues are new-ish and I hadn't visited them before. I am at Romsey Rapids twice a week for my own little one's swimming lessons, but I had never been into the hall next door before. It's a nice venue, and it worked well for me as I had my own little sectioned off area for the photo set up. I also had my toddler with me that day, who very inconveniently decided that it was time for cuddles every time I bent down to take photos! It was very sweet of him, and I did manage to work around him and get some lovely photos!
The second new venue is Totton and Eling Community Centre (Wednesdays), which I liked less, but only because I got very lost going to it! Its actually a lovely venue, and the group we had there were so chilled and chatty. It was probably my favourite session of the week!
So here are a few statistics from this years parties:
4 days of photos
7 Halloween parties
65 children photographed
390 edited photos delivered
15 children dressed as pumpkins
8 children dressed as skeletons
2 children dressed as Jessie from Toy Story... at the same party!
25 babies who fit inside the pumpkin!
