Mother's Day Jiggy Wrigglers Southampton West Baby and Toddler Portraits

I know that Mother's Day seems like it was a really long time ago now, and I guess it was, considering that we've had Easter portraits since then! I still wanted to share some of the gorgeous photos of the babies and toddlers from this years Mother's Day sessions at Jiggy Wrigglers Southampton West.

I actually only have a few photos to share with you from the Mother's Day sessions. That's not to say that I didn't take hundreds (OK, thousands!) of gorgeous photos, or that I didn't sell many photos. Every time I do portraits at a Jiggy Wrigglers Session, those who purchase photos are sent a model release contract for the photos of that particular session, asking if I can share the photos on my website and social media. It is entirely up to the parents/guardians whether they sign this or not, and they can change their mind from session to session, and even go back and change their minds after signing the contract! So, for this particular session, even though lots of people bought photos, only a few signed the model release, which is TOTALLY FINE! It's your little one in the photo, so it's up to you what happens to the photos afterwards.

Just while were vaguely in the area of this topic, I also want to make everyone aware that I save the photos for 1 year on my hard drive before deleting them. Once they are deleted, they are gone forever, so make sure you back up your photos once you've downloaded them.

(Slightly different if you are a wedding couple who has stumbled upon this on my website/blog - your photos are guaranteed for a full year and available to download at any time during that year. Then they go into deep storage, where they will be kept forever. But still make sure you download your photos!)

So, thanks for joining me on this week's ramble into the world of baby and toddler photography. I had (as always) a fabulous time at Jiggy Wrigglers Southampton West, with the wonderful Jiggy Kat. It's so lovely to see so many babies and toddlers enjoying special bonding time with their parents and carers. For these Mother's Day sessions, I decided to really try to encourage the Mums to get in on the photo action too! We never get to be in the photos, as we're usually the ones taking them! Sometimes there is no evidence at all of me being at an event, other than the fact that the photos are all on my phone! So, it's nice, especially on a day to celebrate being a Mummy, to get in the photos too. I had quite a few Mums take the opportunity to get in the photos, and unsurprisingly, they were a big portion of the photos that got purchased. Its nice to be in photos! Take note, everyone reading this who is in all the photos (not necessarily always Mum, but a lot of the time), take photos of your other half! They will very much appreciate being in the photos.

I also noticed that probably 90% of the Mums who stepped into the photos at these sessions, said something along the lines of 'oh, but I look a mess today'. I'm here to say that YOU LOOKED FABULOUS! And when your little one grows up and looks at these photos of you two together, they aren't going to notice that you were having a bad hair day, or that you had a bit of baby spit up/porridge on your top. They are just going to see a wonderfully special photo of the two of you together, enjoying some one-on-one time. All this to say, stop being the one who captures the moments every time and let someone else take charge of the camera. Get in front of the camera more Mums! Your little ones will treasure those photos.

Well, this blog post, as usual, turned into a bit of a ramble, but I really did have a great time capturing the Mother's day photos at Jiggys a few weeks ago. My two littles were there too, as they are most weeks, and they actually both smiled in a photo for me. Sadly, I didn't take my own advice and get in front of the camera, but I definitely will next time!

Until then, here are a few of our gorgeous babies, toddlers and Mums from the Mother's Day sessions. Enjoy!
