... and why you should trust your wedding photographer!

This fabulous wedding was on a beautiful, clear, mild day in December. The problem? The ceremony started at 3pm and the sun set just after 4pm! The ceremony was 30 minutes, which left just 30 minutes to get as many photos outside as possible, before the sun set and we had to move the portraits inside, where there were busy backgrounds and where I would have to use flash.

Wedding photos are normally taken outside the front of this lovely hotel, where there are flowers and lawns and trees. However, the sun had already set behind the hotel. Our only choice was to use the TINY dog walking paddock behind the hotel, where the sun was still visible. I could only photograph in one direction, as we were penned in on the other 3 sides by the back of the hotel, building works and a no access field. We literally had one corner of a 30 ft square to shoot in. Plus, it had rained the day before, so the ground was rather muddy.

The second the couple had walked down the aisle as the new Mr and Mrs, I said that we needed to go outside to do their photos. No time to be congratulated by anyone. Literally, straight outside.

The light was perfect, and we even had the friendly ponies in the field next door come and pose for some photos. We managed to get all of the bride and groom photos, and the whole of the bridal party photos done in 20 minutes. If the couple had had time to meet and greet their guests, or even stop for a quick drink or toilet break, we would not have had time to get these wonderful photos.

They are some of my favourite photos i've ever taken

I'm a very laid back photographer usually. I am happy to go with the flow and give you plenty of 'down time' to chat and drink and enjoy being with your friends and family. But when I say 'trust me on this' and make you do something crazy, you'll be glad you did it once you see the photos!
