Holistic health:

You may be tempted or feel pressure to go on some crazy, fad diet to get in "wedding shape" -- but friends, please prioritise your well being (physical and mental!) first. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be more active and healthy, but remember that your mental health is just as important. I recommend trying out yoga classes, drinking lots of water, and doing your best to reduce stress where you can.

Set aside time to plan:

Don't let wedding planning consume your whole life! Try setting aside certain days to plan, meet with vendors, etc. You can also make wedding planning a date with your partner! Grab your favourite take out food and make it something fun together. Lastly, if you feel overwhelmed, consider hiring a wedding planner -- they are worth the investment and can really help take some pressure off of you.

Set aside time to NOT talk about the wedding:

Weddings are stressful! You probably already know that by now. Try not to let this one day take over your entire life in the lead up to it. As well as setting aside time to plan the wedding together, set aside some time to do things together where talking about the wedding is banned! Go to the cinema, where it's against the rules to talk at all! Go out for dinner and talk about life AFTER the wedding. What are you honeymoon plans? What are your plans for the immediate and long term future? Go for a bit of adventure - hiking, a mini-break, a theme park - something that will be nice and distracting and take your mind off of all that stressful planning.

Focus on what matters:

Sure, there may be unexpected bumps in the process or even on the day of your wedding, but what matters most is that you are getting married! (And all of your people are going to be there, celebrating with you). The couples who have the BEST time at their weddings are the ones who really focus on what matters, and don't sweat the little things. Try to focus on the things that you have control of. At some point you just have to trust that your vendors are doing their jobs and let it go. Oh, and don't stress about the weather!!! Sure, there are things you can do to prepare for the weather, such as buying a clear umbrella just in case, or stocking up on sun cream for your guests. But, and I can't say how many times i've had to say this to couples in the lead up to their wedding. There is absolutely nothing you can do to control the weather! Whatever happens on the day is what you get, so there is NO POINT IN STRESSING ABOUT IT! A great photographer can make your photos look amazing no matter what the weather is doing. Trust your professionals - that's what your paying them for!
